Carol Sengenberger

Obituary of Carol J. Sengenberger

Hilton - Carol J. Sengenberger passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 22, 2024 at the age of 88.  She is survived by her husband, George; her daughter, Susan (Joe) Skeels; her step-daughter, Lynn (Greg) Kovach; her step-son, Eric (Cindy) Sengenberger; her grandchildren, Brad Ingram and Michaelyn (Erik) O'Hearn, Samantha (Jeffrey) Rolles, and Elizabeth Buzash; her brother, Edgar Allen; her great grandchildren; Landry O’Hearn, Bentley Ingram and Henry Rolles; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Carol was also predeceased by her parents, Donald and Ruth Allen; her grandson Frank Buzash; and her sister-in-law, Dorothea Allen.

Carol was a retired high school English Teacher for the Guilderland Central School District.  She was a Catholic and most recently belonged to Saint Lawrence Catholic Church.  Carol had many hobbies over the years.  She liked sewing, often making clothes for her daughter and herself.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.  She knitted Christmas stockings for her entire family, and even left some behind for future growth.  She moved on to quilting in the later years.  She enjoyed planning the quilt design, gathering appropriate fabrics, and finally piecing together and quilting the project.  She made such beautiful things.  Carol also enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing.  She enjoyed traveling.  One of her favorite spots was Maine, and she really enjoyed a trip they had taken across the United States in their motorhome.  Her real passion was gardening.  She enjoyed planning what to plant, where to plant them, and then nurturing the plants as they grew.  Carol’s true happy place was the Adirondacks. Carol spent most of the last 35 years in Lake Pleasant, NY.  She had many wonderful friends there and said it really felt like home.  She enjoyed sharing the “camp” with her family.  She loved seeing the local wildlife, especially the deer, and listening to the loons.  She enjoyed golfing and played in the league at Lake Pleasant Golf Course.  She was a big supporter of the Lake Pleasant Library and a member of Twigs and the local quilting group.

Carol’s presence would brighten up a room.  She was smart, kind, gentle and funny.  She was always beautifully dressed and had that gorgeous white hair that many would love to have.  She was a great friend, checking in on others, lending an ear and helping when she could.  She loved to socialize and so many loved her company.  The world will not be the same without her.  Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
