Obituary of Douglas-Val Ziegler

Greece - Douglas-Val Ziegler passed away on December 25, 2020, at the age of 69. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth (Lillian) Ziegler and Helen Ziegler. He is survived by his loving wife, Holly (Bishop) Ziegler; his beloved sons, Jamie and Jeremy Ziegler; his sister, Cheryl Josh; his brothers, Layne and Craig (Bibiana) Ziegler; his sister-in-law, Maureen (Jon) O’Connor; his nieces, Michelle Ebert and Kevilyn O’Connor (Drew Cittadino); his nephews, Kristopher Ziegler and Michael O’Connor; and his furballs, Scott, Dustin, and Saffy.

 Val was a lifelong and steadfast believer in the Baha’i Faith, which shaped his life and worldview. He earned his doctorate in linguistics and worked for many years in the field of globalization.  His favorite times were spent with his family and cats, traveling to his spiritual home in Haifa, Israel, offering devoted service to the Baha’i Faith, and in his ceaseless pursuit of knowledge, both in his career and his personal study.

Private Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Nunda, New York. Donations in memory of Val can be made to the ASPCA or the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd, Fairport, NY 14450. 

Memorial Service to be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the University of Rochester Interfaith Chapel, 1045 Wilson Blvd, Rochester, NY 14627.  Directions to the Chapel - after turning onto Wilson Blvd. from Elmwood, take a right on to Trustee Road.  Park on the right in the Trustee lot.  The chapel is a ways down on Wilson Blvd. on the left.  Feel free to bring a memory for the family's memory box.
