Obituary of Harrison W. Lewis

Kendall - Harrison Ward Lewis, affectionately known as "Uncle Wardy" passed away on December 3, 2020, at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Podsiadly) Lewis; his loving companion, Marcia Lynn; his brother, Jack Lewis and his sisters, Etta Keeley and Betty Pfeffer. He is survived by his children, John (Deborah) Lewis & Marcia (Bruce Hughes) Lewis; his sister, Ruth Beers and many nieces & nephews, friends and neighbors.
Ward was a Veteran of the United States Airforce, and proudly served during the Korean War as a Tail Gunner in a B29. He was a retired Pipefitter, after 30 years with Local 13.

Dad and Mom purchased the summer cottage on the lake in 1964, which was the source of many fun-filled memories for family and friends. Over the years, they remodeled and eventually the summer cottage became their year-round home, where dad resided for the rest of his life. Dad was an avid reader, loved to cook (he made a mean chili), and was a great fan of music from the big bands, jazz to opera. He enjoyed going to live events and on occasion, he would bring out his Bose and host a "Frank Sinatra Live at the Sands" event for the neighbors. He always had a story to tell and a history lesson to share.  He enjoyed cookouts at the lake, family vacations to Myrtle Beach, trips to Vegas, and many day trips with friends. He always looked forward to visits from John and his buddies and made sure the fridge was stocked with beer.  Up to his final days, he enjoyed keeping current on the sales at Tops Market and Aldi's, and  competing with his dear friend and neighbor, John, to keep his lawn well-manicured...we are pretty sure he had the fastest tractor on the beach. All his neighbors were in awe over the summer, as he precisely stacked over 800 sandbags across the lakefront. For those who saw him often, you know he had an impeccable sense of fashion. His greatest gift.... he always took care of his family and those he loved. If you needed something, you could "Go ask Ward, he can help".

Marcia and John express our sincerest thanks to family, long-time friends and neighbors.

A Graveside Service, following CDC guidelines, will be held at Beechwood Cemetery in Kendall, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kendall Fire Department, PO Box 387, Kendall, NY 14476 in Ward's memory.
