Obituary of Barbara Mae Downey

Barbara Mae (Larkin) Downey, of Saunderson, Rhode Island passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the age of 85.  She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Earl (Bud) Downey (2004), and her parents, Joshua and Rheba (Taylor) Larkin.

She is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Brian) Speer; her son, Randy (Donna) Downey; her grandchildren, Sara, Erin & Bradley Speer, Shannon Boucher, Joshua (Ashley) Downey & Benjamin (Rosanna) Downey; and her great-grandchildren, Grace & Avery Speer, and Brysin & Gaven Downey.

Barbara was active in the Eastern Star, serving many years as Worthy Advisor for the Rainbow Girls and two terms as Worthy Matron. She worked as a Spinner for the Hamilton Web Company and as a Head Cook in the school lunch program, both in North Kingstown.  She especially enjoyed her geraniums, camping and collecting shells at the beach in Florida.

Relatives and friends may call Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 2-4pm in the CRANSTON–MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown, followed by an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 4:00pm in the Funeral Home. Interment will be held privately in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, Rhode Island.
