Ted was my distant cousin by way of our shared Knauth descent, and he and I found each other -- thanks to the 'net -- by way of our deeply shared interest in genealogy. We knew one another only from the emails we exchanged, and I was greatly looking forward to meeting him in person on one of my occasional trips out of MN to and from my native New England. I was hugely sorry to hear of his passing. Generations yet to come will benefit from his genealogical efforts and excavations! A very good legacy to leave us all at his departure.

My belated condolences to everyone in the family. As it happens, just today -- via a completely different, coincidental online avenue having nothing to do with genealogy -- I have been in touch with Ted's cousin, Conny Huthsteiner, also very interested in family history. So we will both try to carry on in the uplifting spirit with which Ted approached the work.

Through all of our projects, motorcycles, jamming and even illness, you always kept your positive mindset and sense of humor. You were always ready to fully live your life, to pin the fun meter and I know we all tried on many occasions to pin that meter with you. I’m grateful that I had the opportunity to laugh, cry and learn a lot from you TED and the last thing you taught me is that the time we have together is a valuable gift. I’ll never take friendship for granted again. You will truly be missed. I know I don’t have to worry about you in your next life because you have so much good karma working for you man. I first met Ted in 1971 while attending RIT, we stayed in touch all these years and made a trip or two each year to see one another whenever possible. We shared the interest of motorcycles and guitars making many wonderful memories. Ted was in my wedding party in 1979 and he is “uncle Ted” to my children and well known to all of my family. I met Ted or as I called him "Teeeedddd Hut!!" when he was hired as an engineer in the group I worked with at Eastman Kodak. Our friendship spans many decades and the memories are near and dear to my heart. His sense of humor and musicality was overflowing. He will be missed but certainly not forgotten, RIP my dear friend. My son Evan and I wish to extend our most sincere condolences to the family.
