Please accept my condolences. I am so happy that John accepted the gift of forgiveness Jesus offered. I also rejoice that, as the Gospel song - The Family of God - written by Bill Gaither 50 years ago says 'I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God' means that because I belong to the family of God that I will see John again. Aren't you glad that you belong to God's family?
