Obituary of Roger Gardner Lowden
Hilton - Roger G. Lowden passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn Terry Lowden (2018); his daughter, Lynn Dirkx; and his sister, Lonna DeRoo.
He is survived by his children, Brett (Trina) Lowden, Laurie Bell (Jeff Mowers), Sue (Todd) Buckner and Steve (Lisa) Lowden; his grandchildren, Holly Lowden, Crystal Moran, Jennifer Dirkx, Andrea Dirkx, Brady Cook, Michael Halloran and Hannah Halloran; his great-grandchildren, Alexis Dirkx, Ryan Dirkx, Victoria Harris, Gianni Lotta, Emma Dirkx and Ellie Dirkx; his sister, Marilyn Wright; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Roger retired from Eastman Kodak after 32 years.
An avid life-long outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and started his second career as a charter boat captain on Lake Ontario. He also wrote many outdoor articles for various publications including the Times-Union and Conservationist magazine, and won awards for his excellent writing.
He was the go-to fix it man, and was always willing to help anyone. He frequently said,“ I can fix anything but plastic” and that was certainly true. He was a man of integrity and honor who deeply loved his family and friends. He will surely be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Due to the current health crisis, there will be no Services at this time. Interment will be held privately in Parma Union Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton, New York.
