Obituary of Michael E. Widman

Michael Edward Widman, aka “Iron Mike”, Died November 10, 2017 of heart complications. Born December 5, 1938 in Rochester, NY to Arthur and Catherine Widman, formerly married to Laura Lee Morgan with whom he had three children, Michael Jr. (Amie Eckert-Widman), Mark (Mary Jo Weihrauch), and Brett (Elizabeth Laudico-Widman). He has two surviving sisters, Lani Skeffington and Kathy Scheidt.

Mike worked at Kodak for over 30 years and later drove a school bus, which he enjoyed greatly. He spent the majority of his life in North Greece and built his dream home on Cranberry Pond. A large part of Mike’s life was spent with long-time friend and companion Sharon George. Together, they spent considerable time vacationing in Henderson Harbor, NY and Pine Island, Fl. They also travelled to Africa on many occasions. Mike was an Army veteran and avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and softball. He was an accomplished painter, driver of questionable automobiles, teller of fabulously exaggerated stories, and thought of himself as a master garden sculptor, which he wasn’t.

Mike had three grandchildren, Annika Butler (Seth Butler), Derek Widman, and Marianna Widman. Mike loved dogs and leaves behind his faithful companion Zoe. In his memory, please consider a donation to your favorite local animal shelter. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral. The family is planning a private memorial at a later date.
