Obituary of Elizabeth A. Henner

Hilton: Betty passed away on Thursday, January 19th, 2017 at the age of 71. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Lee Henner; her children, Leanne (Joe) Polvino, Susan (Cory) Mee & Michelle Henner (Dale Marshall); her grandchildren, Reilly, McKenna & Grady Mee and Emilee Polvino; her sisters-in-law, MaryEllen Flannery, Joanne (Bob) Toates and Betsy Henner; her nieces and nephews, Mark (Therese) Flannery, Scott (Sherri) Toates, Sheri (Eric) Dingman, Kevin (Aimee) Flannery, Tim (Kerry) Flannery, Colleen (Brian) Flaherty, Brian Henner and Gennifer (Anthony) Florio; her great nieces and nephews, Josh and Julianna Flannery, Nicholas Toates, Colton, Liam and Ethan Flannery, Olivia Pringle and Kendall Flannery, & Mason and Paige Flaherty. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Elizabeth Hutchey; her brother, Michael Hutchey; and her brothers-in-law, Robert Flannery and Michael Henner. Betty’s hobbies were her children and grandchildren. She could be found on the sidelines of soccer fields all across the region; cheering her daughters on. Then she loved attending her grandkids’ sporting events. She went to so many soccer, baseball and basketball games, pole vaulting events and swim meets to watch her grandchildren compete. So many trips were made to Toledo to cheer on her ‘chickadees’. Betty also loved camping with her family. The upgrade from pop-up camper to RV allowed for summers to be spent in the 1000 Islands and Westcott Beach State park. Next to her family, church was the most important aspect of her life. She was very involved at St Leo’s. She was on the Parish Council for years. In 2014, she was awarded Steward of the Year. The last several years, her passion was the Social Justice Ministry. Betty always had a soft spot for the homeless and poor. She has spent years taking calls from people needing a helping hand. She worked hard to connect them with the services/items they needed. Betty’s compassion for others is second-to-none. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 24th from 4-7 p.m. at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., 735 East Avenue in Hilton. Betty’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 25th at 10:00am in the St. Leo the Great Church in Hilton. Interment will be held in Parma Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Social Justice Ministry, St. Leo Church, PO Box 725, Hilton, NY 14468. Arrangements entrusted to Thomas E.
