Obituary of Richard Lee Thompson

Richard Lee Thompson passed away at his home in Indian Land, South Carolina, on October 26th surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 73. Dick was born to Henry & Doris Thompson on July 30, 1942 in Rochester, New York, and married Sharon Ann Dye September 25th, 1965. He resided in Hilton, and later in South Carolina. Dick served in the US Army in the US and Germany. In his early career, he went into business with friends remodeling homes as a carpenter and later owned his own business. He also worked as an RTS bus driver, receiving the “Safe Driver Award� for 11 years. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, camping and spending some time at the casino. He was a simple man with simple pleasures, a dreamer and truly devoted to his family and friends. He took great joy in watching his granddaughter Natasha learn and grow.

 

Dick is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy C. Ramesh & Ramesh Thyagarajan, his granddaughter, Natasha Ann Ramesh, his brother-in-law, Richard Burlingham and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his special friend, Amber, the cat. He was predeceased by his wife Sharon and his siblings and their husbands - Joyce Burlingham, Joann & Norman Smith and Judy & John Anderson.

 

Friends may call on Monday, November 2nd from 10-11 AM at Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., 735 East Avenue, Hilton where a Funeral Service will be held at 11AM. Interment will be held in Parma Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to The SPCA of Upstate New York, 588 Queensbury Ave., Queensbury, NY 12804 or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 in Dick’s memory.
