Condolences
Our thoughts are with John's family and friends at this sad time.
Dear Rebecca, family and friends of John’s,
On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at John’s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow “Bubblehead” departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor on the USS Ethan Allen (SSBN-608).
To our “Brother-of-the-Phin” we say, “Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Fair Winds and Following Seas.” Thank you for your service to our country.
Rebecca and family… “may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV).
Jim Sandman, FTC(SS) Ret,
National Chaplain, USSVI.
Dear Becky and Brian,
I don't even know where to start with this, the world has lost a very loving and caring person. I first met John when I joined Ogden Tel back in 1994 and started out working outside, my self and others built the plant that he engineered. Not long after I was promoted into engineering and John took me under his wing and was my mentor teaching me the Cadtel system he used to design in, man did we have fun and many laughs and sometimes he would go through the roof when I deleted something that took hours to design. My office cube was next to his and I would start to giggle as at that time Brian was in high school and skip a class or something and John would be on the phone with the principal. He'd hang up the phone and say you wait Rick your time is going to come when you get the calls and boy he was correct. John loved the hunting season and I think it was his nephews camp that he would go to and play cards, have beverages and play cards, I know he loved hunting but I really think he found peace being in the woods taking it all in and if he got a deer it was good if not he was fine with it.
John- Thank you for showing me the ropes and taking me under your wing!
Love ya, Rick Conroy/ Johns nickname for me was Ricky Rack.
Dear Becky Buell and John's family,
I'm so very sorry to hear of John's passing. He was one of the nicest guys at the old Ogden Tele. I'm sorry that I won't be able to extend my condolences in person. I am not well and unable to be out in public. My deepest sympathies to you all. May God comfort you in this sad time. Joyce Thompson
Having known John for over 50 years, "class of 1966", Carol and I will certainly miss him. Our prayers and thoughts are with you Becky and Brian, at this time. Being in Florida, we will not be able to attend Johns service. Our wednesday breakfast boys will see another empty seat at the Hilton Diner but remember his good nature kidding and stories.
A fine gentleman to all, good man, community minded, veteran who loved his country and family. Larry and Carol Gursslin
Becky, as well as Bill,Nancy, and the whole Buell family. Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of John. I have many fond memories of times spent with John over the many years. Especially the times playing softball and the times spent afterward. John will be missed by many friends. I'd be honored to be included as one of many.
