Condolences
Before I got to know Marylou many years ago I did not know that a person could be as kind, loving, caring, generous, compassionate, humourous and SO well organized. You made such an impact on my life as well on my brothers life. When I came to Rochester to be an au-pair you were my homebase, great support in finding jobs, you taught me how to make eggnog and much more. We made original Austrian applestrudel in your kitchen in Elmguard street together and we were having lunch when you got the call from Austria that your first granddaughter (and my niece) Christina was just born. Later when I had children of my own you sent them for every birthday a birthdaycard with 5 $ "ice-cream-money" and NEVER forgot a birthday. This meant so much to them and to me. So many touching memories. I am grateful forever and will never forget you.
Love, Maria Haupt (Wörgötter)
Mary Lou was bigger than life for me when I was growing up... she was my Scout Leader...but became a second Mom in so many ways. To this day, the memories that we made together in scouting impacts my everyday life, my passions, and what I love to spend time doing. Sharing and giving back so much to the communities that I have lived in and nearby, all the things that we shared as we literally grew into young adults - much were learned under her watchfulness and care.
A really insane memory is when our troop was volunteered to clean up a lakeshore beach of all the dead fish and bury them under the sand. To this day, I cannot look at a fish without thinking of that "volunteer" community service. I just smile and am thankful that I can walk on and just avoid that spot on the way back along the beach!
My heart goes out to the family and friends as we lose a wonderful soul. All my love, Sandy (Scheutzow) Guzzetti
Most of my memories are of you as a Girl Scout Leader. You taught me to not be afraid to try new things, how to be independent, and how to be generous to those that were in need, Because of you, I was able to pass on what I learned through being a Girl Scout Leader for 12 years.
As a friend of the family, I shared in family events, dog sitting, babysitting your great grand children, and football games. I've been to weddings and funerals. Thank-you for sharing your life with me, I will remember you always!
My thoughts are with your family. My Mom was a scout leader with Mary Lou and I’m also a member of John Knox Church where I have many memories of Mary Lou, such a wonderful lady. May you always remember all of the good memories, Love, Dottie Rice Savage
