Obituary of Kirk F. Zwetsch

Brockport - Kirk F. Zwetsch passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kanous Zwetsch; his children, Jason (Gail) Zwetsch and Jennifer Zwetsch; his grandchildren, Reilly, Emily, Samantha, and Carlie; his brothers, Kevin Zwetsch and Brooks (Kathy) Zwetsch; his sister and brother-in-law, Lorrie (Kevin) Hafner; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Nancy) Kanous; his daughter-in-law, Lauren; his close family friend, Anne; and several nieces and nephews. Kirk was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Anne Zwetsch; and his brother, Eric Zwetsch.

Kirk’s greatest pride and joy was his family, especially his four granddaughters, to whom he was deeply devoted. For over 53 years, he created a home that was much more than just brick and mortar—it was the heart of his family’s memories, filled with love, laughter, and shared moments. Kirk had a remarkable talent for fixing anything, often holding onto items well beyond their expected use. Known for his love of the little things, Kirk would feed hummingbirds at his home with the dedication of a full-time job. His playful spirit shone through in his adventures, always on the lookout for Bigfoot and encouraging everyone around him to touch a clock when it read 11:11. A masterful storyteller, he brought humor and joy into every conversation, leaving smiles in his wake.

After retiring from General Motors, where he spent over 38 years, Kirk found a new passion in driving a school bus, where he cared deeply for the children on his route. A proud Vietnam veteran, Kirk also enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter in his youth with his childhood friends. He and his wife shared a love for travel, exploring the world together, with unforgettable trips to places like Oak Island, Australia, and Vietnam.

Even in his passing, Kirk will continue to have an impact on the world. He truly was one in a million. His warmth, generosity, and sense of humor will be forever missed by all who had the privilege to have known him.

A Graveside Service will be held at the convenience of the family in Parma Union Cemetery.
