Larry and Janet were our neighbors for 20 years. We have to mention Janet, because they were a team, in the best sense. We could not have imagined any better people to live next to. Larry was always outside working on his huge vegetable garden in the back. When harvest time came, there would always be a bag or two of vegetables left hanging on our fence, and Janet would be busy in the kitchen making endless jars of sauce from Larry's tomatoes. Their home was always full of life - grandchildren being cared for, friends walking in through the garage to the family room to sit and chat, with Larry holding court in his recliner. Their door was always open and Larry was always willing to lend a hand. His stories of his childhood days on Frisbee Hill were fascinating. It is a busy thoroughfare now, but in his youth, it was a big deal to see a single car coming down the road. He remembered helping to move the house we lived in from its original spot on Edgemere Dr. In our minds, he was an icon of a simpler, more self-sufficient time. He and Janet will always have a special place in our hearts.
