Obituary of Brian Francis Speer

Hilton - Brian F. Speer passed away on October 13, 2022 at the age of 69. He was predeceased by his parents, Kermit and Margaret "Peggy" Speer.  He is survived by his wife, Betsy Downey Speer; his children, Sara (Michael Anderson) Speer, Erin Speer, and Bradley Speer; his grandchildren, Grace and Avery Speer, and Charlie Anderson; his brothers, Stephen (Marli) Speer and Larry Speer; his sister, Linda Speer; his Aunt, Jessie Kirby; his niece and nephew, Amy Grande and Greg Speer; his great nieces and nephews, David Speer, AJ Engelhardt, Lucus Speer, Renea Daniels, Elise DeLucia, Ryan and Jason Grande; his brother-in-law and family, Randy Downey, and Shannon, Joshua and Benjamin Downey; his cousins; and many friends.  Brian was also predeceased by his sisters-in-law, Pamela Speer and Barbara Speer.

Brian retired from his job as former Town of Parma Highway Superintendent. In 2017 he received an award for 20 years of attendance at the New York State School for Highway Superintendents.  He was a long time member of the Hilton Baptist Church, and its choir.  Brian was a talented trombone player who played in the Hilton Gazebo Band.  He was a former member of the Hilton Fire Department and volunteered at the annual carnival for many years.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife Betsy, woodworking, watching tv and playing Euchre and Hearts.  Brian will be deeply missed.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, 735 East Avenue, Hilton, NY 14468.  Brian's Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Hilton Baptist Church, 50 Lake Ave, Hilton, NY 14468.  Interment in Parma Union Cemetery.
