Obituary of Dean A. Klafehn

Hilton - Dean A. Klafehn passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the age of 97. He was predeceased by his wife, Loraine [Bauer] Klafehn (2019); his son, Scott; his siblings, Helen Unterborn, Joe Klafehn and Marion Rath.

He is survived by his children, Terry (Sharyn) Klafehn, Sally (Tom) Greer and Cindy (Bob) Bryant; his grandchildren, Kyle (Beth) Bryant, Ryan (Kristie) Bryant, Sheri (Tim) Parrinello and Deanna (Simon) Turner; his great grandchildren, Hannah & Addison Bryant; Logan, Bennett & Harper Bryant; Avery & Everly Parrinello; and Grace & Jack Turner; his brother, Karl (Barb) Klafehn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dean was a life long active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hamlin. He owned his own painting and interior decorating business for many years. He was an artist with many talents. Many will recall his amazing creations as "Cardboard Man" - he could make anything out of cardboard, including a quarter size Stearman biplane that may still be housed in the Oshkosh Air Museum in Wisconsin. Years ago, he would take his various pieces of art (sculpting and paintings) to the Rochester Clothesline Art Show. Much of his artwork is hanging in his and his children's homes. He was also clever with woodworking, and used those skills to craft many intricate items for bazaars, Vacation Bible Schools and Sunday School. If something was broken, he was the one to have the answers for making repairs. He could tell some great stories about the good-old-days. He will be greatly missed by his entire family and his many, many friends.

Dean's Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 18th at 12:30 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, 1107 Lake Rd. N., Hamlin, New York. Interment will be held in Lakeside Cemetery in Hamlin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dean to the St. John Lutheran Church Beautification Fund, 1107 Lake Rd. N., Hamlin, NY 14464.
