Obituary of Scott R. Pickering
Hamlin - Scott R. Pickering
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Scott Pickering. After fighting a courageous four-year battle with melanoma, Scott entered eternal life with the Lord on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at the age of 57.
Scott was born in April 2, 1963, in Brockport. He grew up in Adams Basin and attended Brockport High School where he excelled in wrestling. After graduating in 1982, he moved to Colorado. He spent many years in Colorado working, exploring and discovering the beauty of the state, creating forever memories with his uncle, Ed Pickering and friends he met along the way. He moved from Colorado to California and then later to Georgia. During this time, he mastered carpentry skills, became an avid outdoorsman and always pursued his greatest passion as an exceptional fisherman. In 2008, he returned to Adams Basin to be near family as his dad's health was declining. Scott had a great passion for life – he worked hard, played hard and shared many happy times with loved ones, family, friends and special family Chris Keller and Becca Evert.
Scott will be lovingly remembered for his strong faith, quiet nature, free spirit, beautiful smile and his devotion to family and friends. He enjoyed reading and studying the Bible with those who shared his love for the Lord; Pastor Dwight Winkley, Uncle Bob and Aunt Mary Lou Webster.
Scott was predeceased by his father, Richard Pickering. He is survived by his mother, Carol Pickering; brother, Dennis (Sherie) Pickering; nephews and niece, Ryan (Catherine) Turco, Matt Pickering, Leeann Pickering; two great nephews, Noah and Henry Turco; long-time companion, Lori Wedgwood; best friend, Pastor Dwight Winkley; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
We are heartbroken that you left us so soon, but you will live on forever in our hearts.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care Scott received while at Hildebrandt Hospice.
A private graveside service will be held at Parma Corners Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
