Chuck, grew up in Hilton and attended Hilton High school where he excelled in hockey and soccer. He grew up playing travel hockey with his brothers then moved on and played for the a Junior Amerks team in his late teens. He continued with hockey in men's leagues, and coached when he wasn’t on the ice, throughout his adult life. His passion for hockey was shared by many. He met some of his very best friends at the ice rink. He loved to watch his son, Charlie, grow up on the ice as well and now his grandson Jackson who continues to play and share his love of the game.
Sports were a very impactful part of his life. In the winter he spent all his time on the ice, but when the warmer weather came you would find him at the soccer field. Chuck grew up playing soccer with his siblings, cousins and friends. He continued with soccer through high school. Chuck then coached his daughters Ashley and Keylee who grew up loving the game as well. He enjoyed watching them play and sharing his knowledge of the game. He loved watching his grandchildren play as well including Maddi, Piper, Jackson, Caleb and Morgan.
Chuck and his wife Jackie were high school sweethearts and were wed on July 14, 1990. They were looking forward to celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this year, despite the fact that at their wedding, Chuck had written “Help me” on the bottom of his dress shoes. They spent their lives as residents of Hamlin where they built their lives with their three children Ashley, Keylee, and Charlie. Chuck was well known among his fellow community members in both Hamlin and Hilton.
Chuck was a man who worked hard to provide for his family. He worked up until he had his first heart attack. He fought hard to keep healthy, but his heart had other plans for him. He enjoyed working in lawn care, which allowed him to continue to work after his many heart surgeries.
Chuck loved to play the lottery, loved to have a good drink, loved good conversation and company, loved a good party, loved sports, loved cars, snowmobiles, and four wheelers, and most of all loved his family. Chuck’s wife, kids, and grandkids were his world. He did anything and everything for them. Being around the kids saying “Papa’s the Man” was his slogan. He loved to play with his grandchildren; he played hard, loved hard, and lived his life with no regrets. Despite all of his heart trouble, and other health ailments, he would never complain. You would never know he wasn’t feeling well, and he was still checking to make sure everyone else was ok. He’d give the shirt off his back or last dollar in his pocket to anyone who needed it. He was giving, loving, and a family man. Maddi, Piper, Leah, Jackson, Caleb, Morgan, Taylor, Avery, and Stella were his pride and joy ~ his legacy.
