Obituary of James W. Derefinko

Hilton - James W. Derefinko passed away on April 11, 2024 at the age of 81. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol; his children, Stephan (Brenda) Derefinko, Christine (Richard) Giangrasso; his 9 grandchildren, Madison, Abigail, Lydia, James, John, Danielle (Matthew) Cole, Peter, Julia, and Luke; and his great-grandson, William. James was predeceased by his parents, Stephan & Virginia Derefinko; and his brother, Rodney Derefinko.

James was a Veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Brown Security of Buffalo where he worked as a service tech. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. He was a talented carpenter and a jack of all trades and enjoyed making bird houses.  In his leisure he enjoyed watching and rooting for his favorite team, the Buffalo Bills, playing the drums and jazz music, and fishing on Lake Ontario. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.

Family and friends are invited to attend James' Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 110 Old Hojack Lane, Hilton. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Hamlin.
