Obituary of Violet M. Pagan

Spencerport - Violet M. Avery Pagan, "Vicky", passed away on September 4, 2023 at the age of 101.  She was predeceased by her parents, John Russell and Jeanne Georgette Mason; her husbands, Douglas Avery and George M. Pagan; her son, Robert Michael Pagan; and her brother, John Robert Mason.  She is survived by her children, Lynn (David) Baerman and Jean (Steven) Erickson; her stepson, John R. Pagan; her grandchildren, Brian (Uiara), Keith (Tara), Michael, Douglas (Emily), Jeffrey, and Christopher (Shannon); her great-grandchildren, Emma, Kayla, Atari, Isabella, Gigi, Corey, Demian, Natalee, Alex, Nick and Nate; and her 2 nieces, Robin and Cynthia Gay.

After the death of her first husband, and in order to support her children, Vicky returned to college at age 38 and graduated cum laude from SUNY at Brockport with a teaching degree in Elementary Education.  She then worked as a teacher with the Greece Central School District where she taught kindergarden and fifth grade.  After retiring she volunteered at the Strong Museum for over 20 years.  She enjoyed traveling and went all over the U.S. and to Europe.  She especially enjoyed visiting her relatives in Lyon and Paris, France.  After her second husband passed away she moved to St. John's Meadows where she volunteered with a group of other residents to provide movies for the residents.  She had a life long love of learning, loved books, and was an avid reader.  Among her other hobbies she enjoyed knitting, quilting, playing cards such as Bridge, and genealogy, and she passed down her research and documentation to family members.  But what she enjoyed most of all was getting together with friends and family, and we will miss her dearly.
