Obituary of Suzanne C. Harter Pritchard

Hilton - Suzanne C. Pritchard passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at the age of 79. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill Joe" Pritchard (June 2022); her parents, Frank and Marge Harter; and her brother, Donald Harter. She is survived by her children, Bill (Michael Mooney) Pritchard, Tammy (Rich) Maier, Julie (Aaron) Camp, and Darlene (Tim) Vause; her grandchildren, Adam (Lindsay) Maier, Katie (Travis) Handley, Kayla Fiano, and Jackie (John) Swearingain; her great-grandchildren, Shaun (Alyssa), Bryan, and Erin; her sister-in-law, Joann Harter; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

After retiring as a bus driver for the Hilton Central School District, Sue became a snowbird. Each winter she and Bill traveled to Florida where Sue basked in the sun and visited nearly every flea market in the state.

Every Spring, Sue would transform the landscape at 543 Manitou Rd into a magical garden filled with flowers of all types and colors, especially red geraniums, which were her favorite. Joining the floral menagerie were a village of ceramic gnomes, a life-like fawn made of concrete, and a scary-looking Jackalope positioned at the front door to greet guests. Besides flowers, Sue (a.k.a. Susie) also cultivated many friendships over the years including a gang of Hilton School District bus drivers. Often meeting over breakfast or lunch, this rowdy sorority would talk about their families, winnings and hijinks from the latest casino trip, or share a bawdy joke or two, with Connie usually starting things off. However, the time Sue most cherished was that spent with her grandchildren. From the day they were born, Adam and Katie were truly the joys of her life.

Sue continued her practice of making friends everywhere she went while living at Hamilton Manor. Sue shared meals and enjoyed live entertainment with her latest group of companions. Our family cannot thank the staff at Hamilton Manor enough for their tireless efforts in caring for and supporting our mother. She truly felt loved.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, June 23rd from 4 - 6 PM at Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., 735 East Avenue in Hilton, where her Memorial Service will take place at 6 PM. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.

In honor of Sue's wishes, she would like to give back to her friends at Hamilton Manor whom she has left behind. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the fund that will benefit her friends there -  Sue Pritchard Memorial Activity Fund (check written to "Tammy Maier" with memo for Sue Pritchard Memorial Activity Fund), c/o Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, 735 East Avenue, Hilton, NY 14468.
