Obituary of Helen J. Spaan

Hilton - Helen J. (LiButti) Spaan passed away on November 4, 2021, at the age of 96.  She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Spaan, in 1978, and her parents, Anthony and Mary LiButti.  She is survived by her brother, Donald LiButti; her two children, Michael Spaan and Pamela (Spaan) Kramer; her daughter-in-law, Randy (Zuckerman) Spaan, and her grandchildren, Jonathan Spaan, Max Spaan, Hannah Spaan and Augie Kramer.

Helen grew up on McNaughton Street in Rochester, NY and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1943, in the middle of World War II.  After high school, she became a bookkeeper at Fashion Park, a maker of high-quality mens suits, and where her father worked as a foreman. Shortly after marriage, in 1959, Helen moved into a new house on Manitou Road in Hilton, built by her husband. She raised her family and lived in that house for the next 61 years. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing bridge, and being an active member of Parma Greece United Church of Christ. Over the years, Helen attended, and was a fan, of many of her grandchildrens' sporting events.  In recent years, she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching, feeding and learning about the birds and other wildlife in her backyard.

We will be celebrating Helen's long life with a Funeral Service on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 11:00am at Parma Greece United Church of Christ.  Interment in Riverside Cemetery.
