My Grandpa Bud will be a man that I will never forget. I remember going to the fly-in breakfast and Grandpa smiling when I brought his first great-grandchildren, William and Andrew. He was so proud that day. I know that Grandma Elaine and Grandpa Bud are in heaven together having pool parties and having Black Russians and Whiskey sours with all their friends. I remember as a little kid I loved all the planes at the Fly-In Drive-In breakfast and the man who made it all possible, “Bud” Hendershot. He exposed me to the brotherhood of aviation and flying, and I will remember him forever for that. If I wasn’t influenced by Great-Grandpa Bud to fly, I never would have joined Civil Air Patrol, and would have never loved flying so much. I guess this time Great-Grandpa Bud flew so high up, he didn’t want to come back down. -William DeMars
