Neil Laundry

Obituary of Neil E. Laundry

Brockport - Neil E. Laundry, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, leaving behind a life rich in learning, family, and quiet passion.

He was predeceased by his parents, W. Clifford and Mae Evelyn Laundry, and his brother-in-law, Clayton "Bud" O'Dell.

Neil is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Donna Losinger Laundry; his sons, Douglas (Eva) Laundry and Scott Laundry; his beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Kaelin, Ethan, and Emmersyn; his sister, Jessie O'Dell; and his “aunt”, Rosemary (Bill) Roberts. He is also remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews.

For 27 years, Neil was a dedicated high school English teacher in the Spencerport Central School District, specializing in creative writing, poetry and science fiction. He was a mentor to many, nurturing a love of language and expression in countless students over the decades.

Outside the classroom, Neil lived a full and vibrant life. He had a deep appreciation for Native American art and collected Kachina dolls. He loved sailing—purchasing his first boat in 1979—and spent many memorable days cruising with Donna around Lake Ontario and racing with his son Scott. A fan of folk music, he played guitar for personal joy and connection.

Neil was a member of the Eastern Star, for which he was Grand Patron for the State of New York in 2003. He served on the Board of Pounder Hall, an independent living facility operated by Eastern Star in Oriskany, NY. He was a proud member of Unity Masonic Lodge. With Donna, he shared a love of travel, exploring places like Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Scotland, and many national parks in the West, as well as enjoying many cruises together.
