Obituary of Gordon P. Barnes

Penfield - Gordon P. Barnes (“Gordy”) passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Barnes; and his parents, Hendrick and Helen Barnes. Gordy is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria; his children, Don (Bonnie) Barnes, Tom (Rose) Barnes, John (Bonnie Lupo) Barnes, Sue Sheffield, and Karen (Jeff) Adams; his sisters, Janet (Dorothy) Barnes, Doris Pelkey, and Carol (Jeff) Ernst; and his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Gordy enjoyed a distinguished 39-year career as an engineer at Eastman Kodak Company, retiring in 1995. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose joy was most evident when surrounded by family. To Gordy, family was everything. He and Gloria shared a warm and welcoming home in Penfield, where Gordy took great pride in tending to their forever-wild backyard. Together, they also participated in a local community vegetable garden, a reflection of their shared love for nature and simple pleasures. Gordy was also an avid ice fisherman for many years, finding tranquility, peace, and joy in the quietness of the frozen lakes and bays. Gordy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Cemetery, 1460 Ridge Road West, Webster, NY 14580. All are welcome to attend.
