Obituary of Virginia A. Mesko

The family of Virginia A Mesko, 72, is saddened to announce that she passed away during the early morning hours of Saturday, March 1, 2025, in the home of her daughter in Rochester, NY.

Virginia was born in Willow Springs, MO, where she was raised and graduated high school. She was the youngest daughter of Joyce and Dorothy Burns. After leaving Willow Springs, she lived in Rolla, MO and then Columbia, MO where she became certified as a radiologic technologist. She also lived in Richmond, VA before moving to Louisville, KY in 1992 where she lived out the rest of her days. Virginia held numerous jobs and was always willing to do what she could to help provide for her family. While in the Richmond area, she operated a mobile mammography unit and provided cancer screening for those who did not have easy access. In the end, that was the job she was most proud of because she was able to help so many. She spent her final few years hosting her visiting neighbors along with her dog Jasper Lee, in her screened-in garage. Of the many people she cared for, nothing rivaled her love for her children. She encouraged living a peaceful existence and believed in the power of positivity and prayer. She always found the strength to smile and never failed to share that smile with anyone who needed it.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her siblings: Mary Orr, Patrick Burns, Brenda Holloway, and Sarah Pruisner and Ken; her children: Brice Mesko and Nichole, Sonya Haslag and Ron, and Molly Mesko and Tom Colaprete. She is also survived by grandchildren Hunter Oakes and Lane, Halie Mesko, Hayden Bridges and Shyanne, and Carlie Bridges. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

A memorial will be planned at a later date in Willow Springs, MO.
