Obituary of James F. Hawkins

Hilton - James Frederick "Hawk" Hawkins (July 6, 1942 - February 21, 2025) passed away on Friday, February 21st at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his mother, Eva Augusta Strussenburg-Elliott and his father, Edward Francis Hawkins; his brother, Lloyd Beehler; and his sisters, Doris Oehlbeck and Beverly Beehler Prevost. He is survived by his many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Jim was a veteran of the US Marines, and then employed by RG&E. After his studies in avionic technology, he had a long career in the aerospace field in both California and Florida, working for the Howard Hughes Company and NASA. He retired 25 years ago, and returned to Hilton. He was a kind, gentle soul, and a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, known as "Hawk" to many of his friends. He was cherished by all who knew him, and will be greatly missed by his family and community.

Jim's Funeral Service will take place 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 158 East Avenue in Hilton. Interment will be held in Parma Union Cemetery in the spring.
