Obituary of Dorothy L. Swingle

Hilton - Dorothy L. "Dottie" Swingle passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Lucile Levin; and her husband, Walter W. Swingle, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Wilma Colotti, Ginger (Ian) Powell, Beth (Randy) Lockhart, and Barbara Swingle; her grandchildren, Christian Wetzel, Roth Wetzel, Renee (Logan Ellis) Colotti, Gunnar Wetzel, Alexis (Matt Graves) Colotti, Nicole (Wes) Heinel and Jamie (Jim) Johnstone; and her great grandchildren, Vincent and William Heinel, and Jack and Henry Johnstone.

Dottie was born on February 10, 1937 in Queens, New York. She graduated from Kings Park High School on Long Island and received a teaching degree from SUNY Geneseo. It was during her time there that she met the love of her life, Walter.  After teaching kindergarten for a few years, they married and settled in Hilton, New York where they raised four daughters. Dottie was a proud member of the Lioness Club, and served on the Hilton Parks and Recreation Commission. She was a realtor/broker at Braeview Realty for many years.  Dottie adored her children and grandchildren immensely, and loved attending their sporting events. She was a voracious reader and loved to travel. She will be missed by her family and friends as well as the people whose lives she touched in her community. 

All are invited to Visitation at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, 735 East Avenue in Hilton on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 1 - 3 p.m., followed by her Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at Rose Ridge Cemetery in Naples, New York.
