Edward A. Tobey

Hilton - Edward A. Tobey passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles & Gladys [Rowland]; his wife, Carol Ann [Hoefer] Tobey (1983); his brother, Howard Tobey and his brother-in-law, Bert Dart.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna (John) Lemcke, Robin (Steven) Lauth, Susan (David) Lennox and Mindy (Jim) Howes; and his sons, Michael (Liz) Tobey, David (Kerri) Tobey and Douglas (Rhonda) Tobey;

He also leaves his brother, Fred Tobey; and his sister, Katherine Dart;

...Also survived by his 24 grandchildren, Michael (Tifany) Tobey, James (Kara Genegon) Tobey, Matt (Courtney) Tobey, Craig (Emilee) Lemcke, Jeffrey (Kym) Lemcke, Nicole (Matt) Quataert, Sarah (Ritchie) Steubing, Corey (Megan) Lauth, Daniel Lauth, Andrew (Paige Maier) Lennox, Jessica (Nick) Popielarz, Amanda (Dan Fitzmorris) Lennox, Ryan (McKayla) Howes, Emily (Morgan) Goodwin, Alexandra (Shane) Militello, Abigail Tobey, Jacek Kwiatkowski, Aidan Kwiatkowski, Chad Tobey, Adam Tobey, Derek Tobey, Tatiana Howes, Andrei Howes and Misha (Ann) Howes.

...And his 20 great grandchildren, Kelsey Tobey, Mikenzy Tobey, Kierra Tobey, CeCelia Tobey, Cameron Tobey, Arianna Tobey, Ethan Lemcke, Cayden Lemcke, Teagan Lemcke, Morgan Quataert, Madelyn Quataert, Emma Steubing, Owen Shultz, Avery Lauth, Brennen Lauth, Zoey Lauth, Liam Popielarz, Isaiah Howes, Avishai Howes and Nova Goodwin as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Ed was a veteran of the US Army, having served from 1953 - 1962. He became an electrician for Eastman Kodak for many years, having graduated with his electrical skills from Hudson Valley Community College. He enjoyed tent camping with friends and family. He took an eventful cross country trip with his wife and mother-in-law and 5 children. Ed was diligent about attending as many as possible of his grandchildren's sporting and dancing activities. He was very involved with the Hilton Volunteer Fire Department, and held the position of Deputy Chief of the Fire Department. He served for many years on the Hilton Carnival Committee. In his later years, he acquired a sweet tooth, particularly for pies. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 4 - 7 PM at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., 735 East Avenue in Hilton where his Funeral Service will take place on Friday, April 29th at 10 AM. Ed will be laid to rest in Parma Union Cemetery.
