Obituary of Richard A. Schepler

Concord, NC / Hilton:  Richard A. Schepler, 75, of Concord, NC, formerly of Hilton, New York went to be with his Savior in his eternal home June 24, 2017.  He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond & Eugenia Schepler and his wife of 49 years, Linda (March) Schepler.  He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Maria W. Schepler; children, Rich (Jennifer), Randy (Janet), Ray Schepler, Rebecca (Rick) Gamel, Caroline (Craig) Hanemann & Robert Wilkes; grandchildren, Richard III (Lisa) Schepler, Katie (Scott) MacAllister, Danielle, Alex, Dylan, Lauren, Joe & Maddie Schepler, Nick Gamel, Billy Wilkes and Charlie & Callie Hanemann; great-grandchildren, Olivia & Cole; sister, Carol (Don) Ennis; and several nieces, nephews, cousins & many friends.

Dick, as most everyone knew him, was born July 6, 1941 in Hamlin, NY. He was a graduate of Hilton High School where he served as class president. Dick was the owner of R.C. Schepler & Son, an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and a founding member of Hilton-Parma Soccer Club.  After moving to Concord, NC, he became a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, and an active volunteer at Ascension Soup Kitchen. Dick was passionate about trains, old Chevy cars & Oliver tractors, and enjoyed growing vegetables and cooking. He was self-taught in the German language and loved to travel. Dick was a family man and loved sharing his knowledge with all who surrounded him. “Some men leave their mark on the world by the way they live and the difference they make in the lives they touch”.

Dick's family will receive friends Thursday, June 29th from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., 735 East Avenue, Hilton.  His Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 30th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hilton followed by Interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Hamlin, New York.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 158 East Avenue, Hilton, NY 14468 or Ascension Lutheran Church, 1225 E. Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28204, or a charity of your choice in Dick's memory.
