Barbara “Barb Ann Bergeron, age 73, passed from this life on March 6, 2015 peacefully in Boynton Beach, FL.(Her loving 73-year old heart finally gave way) Her birth was celebrated in Rochester, NY on June 14, 1941 by her mother Constance (Alma) Caimano and later by adoptive father, Alfred E. Caimano. Barbara Ann is survived by her husband of 47 years, Alfred Bergeron; two sons John (Samantha LaPointe), Edwin (Yaima Cordero),& 7 beloved grandchildren; one brother Roger (Jonatha Smith) Caimano; & many nieces and nephews. Time with family was precious to her. She was an independent spirit with a strong will but always put her family first with undaunted courage and unselfish devotion to her children. Barb grew up in Rochester and graduated from Irondequoit high School in 1960. A quote in her high school yearbook described her - “she encourages natural beauty with her hands. These words carried true throughout her life. She received her Degree in Nursery Education from the State University of NY at Cobleskill in 1962 where she participated as Chaplain in Alpha Lambda Phi. She earned her BA in Elementary Education from the University of NY at Brockport in 1964. Her greatest love after her family was teaching primary grades in the Hilton School District for 25 years. Barb also loved teaching arts and crafts for the former Genesee Settlement House in downtown Rochester, NY; and in Hilton, NY she loved teaching swimming for the Red Cross. Barb enjoyed her several travels to England, France, Italy and Alaska. Here at home, her favorite football team was the Buffalo Bills. She enjoyed golf, running, canoeing and bicycling. She prized over 25 trophies and ribbons in competitive 10K running races like Bonny-Bells. Barb retired with her husband to Central FL in 2002 where she continued her daily swims of 80 laps and then golf. After her health began to fail, they relocated to The Villages, FL. Barb was a devoted follower of the Catholic Church where her convictions deepened throughout her life. She strove to model the Beatitudes. She was kind, loving, inquisitive, yet simple and shy, and only had positive words to share with anyone she encountered. She loved her little poodles and cared deeply about people. Barb left a legacy of forgiveness, integrity and generosity with all those she influenced especially several very close friends. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 pm at Thomas E.
